Moncton’s only win was a 3-1 triumph over the Chatham Miramichi Honda Ironmen June 6 at Ironmen Field.
The Mets (2-4) also dropped a 5-1 decision to the two-time defending champs, the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders, on June 1 at Kiwanis Park and fell 6-4 to the Alpines June 4 at home.
The Royals (2-2) edged the Alpines (2-1) by a 2-1 margin June 5 at Memorial Field.
Sunday’s 1 p.m. showdown between the Royals and Islanders (5-2) was postponed as Fredericton and Charlottetown ended up playing a doubleheader in the province’s capital. The Islanders took the first contest 12-1, while the Royals won the second game 8-5.
The game scheduled for Sunday afternoon between the Ironmen (1-3) and Mets at Kiwanis Park was rained out and will now be played Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Moncton.
In addition, the June 1 matchup between Fredericton and Saint John at Royals Field was washed out. No makeup date has been announced.
The Mets will host the Islanders Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Chatham will visit the Royals Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Ironmen will entertain the Alpines for a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Royals and Mets will meet June 15 at 4 p.m. in the Hub City.
In New Brunswick Junior Baseball League action, the Saint John Doiron Sports Alpines (4-2) are sitting on top of the league after defeating Moncton’s Metro Mudcats (3-2) 7-1 May 28 at Memorial Field.
The Alpines also lost 10-4 to the Fredericton Simpson Junior Royals (3-2) May 29 at Royals Field before thumping the Royals 7-1 June 4 and losing to them by a 5-2 margin June 5 in Fredericton. Saint John beat the Royals 13-6 May 21 in their home opener and downed the Mudcats 12-10 May 22 at Kiwanis Park.
The Royals toppled the Chatham O’Donaghue’s Junior Ironmen (0-4) 9-1 May 22 and 8-5 May 28 in Miramichi. Chatham lost 11-7 to the Mudcats May 29 in Moncton and 4-1 June 4 at Ironmen Field.
The June 7 doubleheader between the Alpines and Ironmen in Saint John was postponed to June 15 at noon due to rain.
Play is set to resume with games Wednesday between Fredericton and Saint John at 7:30 p.m. in the Port City and between the Mudcats and Ironmen at 7:30 p.m. in Miramichi. Chatham will visit the Royals Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and the Alpines will be in Moncton for a 7:30 p.m. date.
The Capital City Intermediate Baseball League and Southern New Brunswick Baseball League’s 2025 campaigns are entering their fourth week, while the Miramichi Valley Baseball League’s season is heading into Week 3.
In the Capital City circuit, last week’s games included a 13-8 win for the defending champ Woodstock Shiretowners (5-1) over the Fredericton Launchpad Sports Expos (1-5) and a 6-5 win for the Grand Falls McCain Cataractes (4-0) over the Fredericton Nissan Astros (1-3) June 2 at Royals Field.
The Shiretowners thumped the Oromocto Veteran Farmer Pioneers (0-3) by a 20-4 margin June 3 at Deer Park, the Expos beat the Astros 7-6 June 3 at Royals Field, and the Shiretowners blasted the Devon Boys Lawn Care Orioles (2-1) 13-3 June 5 at Dale Allen Field.
Sunday’s games included back-to-back 10-0 wins for the Cataracts over the Expos in a doubleheader in Grand Falls.
The Cataracts and Orioles will face off Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Fredericton. The Expos and Pioneers will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Oromocto, and the Shiretowners and Astros will play at 6:30 p.m. at Royals Field. The Shiretowners and Orioles will renew acquaintances Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Woodstock, followed by a Friday the 13th date between the Astros and Cataractes in Grand Falls and a Saturday matinee between the same two teams at Veterans Field.
The Southern New Brunswick league’s latest action saw the Saint John Mariners (2-1) down the Saint John Angels (1-2) 5-2 June 2 at Memorial Field. The Dieppe Cardinals (3-0) cruised to a 10-1 victory over the KV Red Sox (2-2) June 4 at Wells Recreational Field and edged the Hampton Guardians (1-3) 5-4 June 5 at Lakeburn Park.
The Guardians beat the Lancaster Stingrays (1-2) 8-2 June 6 in Hampton. The Red Sox tripped the Stingrays 4-1 Sunday in Rothesay.
The Guardians and Angels will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field. The Angels and Red Sox will hit the field Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Rothesay, the Mariners and Guardians will do battle Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Hampton, the Red Sox and Cardinals will face off Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Dieppe, and the Cardinals and Stingrays will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon in Grand Bay-Westfield.
The Mariners will visit the Guardians June 15 at 6 p.m.
Last week in the Miramichi Valley league featured two home-and-home series, with the Chatham Head Tigers (3-1) beating the Dalhousie Dodgers (1-2) 3-2 in extra innings June 3 at home and 5-3 in extras June 6 on the road. The Newcastle A&B Lumber Cardinals (2-2) downed the defending champ Tracadie Aigles (1-2) 4-3 June 4 at home and 9-6 June 6 on the road.
The Tigers will host the Aigles Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and visit the Cardinals Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Newcastle and the Dodgers will meet Friday at 8 p.m. in Dalhousie. The Dodgers will be in Tracadie Thursday at 8 p.m.
