The Alpines (5-2) split a doubleheader with the Chatham Miramichi Honda Ironmen June 21 at Memorial Field, dropping the first contest 4-3 and winning the second game 7-5.
The Moncton Dixie Lee Mets (3-8) lost both their latest matchups, falling 3-2 to the Ironmen (5-7) June 18 at Kiwanis Park and 4-2 to the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders June 17 at Victoria Park. The Islanders (8-2) downed the Ironmen 4-3 June 19 at Ironmen Field.
The Fredericton Simpson Royals (2-4) were idle last week due to rainouts. Their June 20 meeting with Saint John and Sunday’s tilt against Moncton were both washed out. No makeup dates have been announced.
The Ironmen and Islanders will renew acquaintances Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Victoria Park. Chatham will host Fredericton Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and the Mets and Alpines will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Saint John. The Royals and Mets will do battle Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the province’s capital.
Fredericton and Charlottetown will face off Saturday at 6 p.m. at Royals Field. The last senior baseball matchups in June will feature the Ironmen and Alpines June 29 at 1 p.m. at Ironmen Field and the Alpines and Mets at 7 p.m. in Moncton.
The Saint John Doiron Sports Alpines (8-3) are still on top of the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League after defeating the Metro Mudcats (4-3) 15-7 June 19 in Moncton.
Meanwhile, the Chatham O’Donaghue’s Junior Ironmen (1-9) earned their first win of the season with a 6-1 triumph over the Fredericton Simpson Junior Royals (6-4) June 19 at Royals Field. That followed a 10-5 Ironmen loss to the Mudcats June 18 in Miramichi.
The Alpines beat the Royals 5-3 June 18 at home.
This week, the Royals and Ironmen will play Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Ironmen Field. The Mudcats and Royals will hit the field Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. start in Fredericton.
The Grand Falls McCain Cataractes (8-0) are still undefeated in Capital City Intermediate Baseball League play after a 5-4 triumph over the defending champ Woodstock Shiretowners (7-2) June 16 at the Dale Allen Field.
The Fredericton Launchpad Sports Expos (2-7) edged the Devon Boys Lawn Care Orioles (4-4) 8-7 June 16 at Royals Field. The Orioles also downed the Fredericton Nissan Astros (2-6) June 16 at Royals Field, and the Astros beat the Oromocto Veteran Farmer Pioneers (0-4) 20-14 in a slugfest June 17 at Deer Park.
The Orioles beat the Expos 7-6 June 17 at Royals Field. They also edged the Shiretowners 5-4 Monday at Royals Field, and the Astros downed the Pioneers 15-10.
The Cataractes and Orioles have a 7:30 p.m. date Tuesday at Royals Field. The Expos and Shiretowners will do battle Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Woodstock, and the Pioneers and Astros will meet Friday at 6 p.m. in Oromocto.
The Dieppe Cardinals (7-0) extended their winning streak to seven games after their latest outings in Southern New Brunswick Baseball League play, including an 11-2 thumping of the Hampton Guardians (3-5-1) June 20 in Hampton.
The Saint John Angels (2-4) blanked the KV Red Sox (2-4) by a 10-0 margin June 16 at Memorial Field. The Guardians edged the Red Sox 4-3 June 19 in Hampton.
The Cardinals beat the Angels 6-4 Monday at Memorial Field.
The Saint John Mariners (3-1-1) will host the Lancaster Stingrays (1-4) Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., and the Cardinals and Red Sox will face off at 6:30 p.m. at Wells Recreational Field.
The Angels will visit the Guardians Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Hampton and Lancaster will play Saturday at noon in Grand Bay-Westfield, and the Cardinals will be in Saint John June 29 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Mariners at Memorial Field.
Last week’s rainy weather limited the Miramichi Valley Baseball League to three games, including a 1-0 win for the Chatham Head Tigers (4-2) over the Newcastle A&B Lumber Cardinals (3-4) in the eighth inning June 17 at Waldo Henderson Memorial Field.
The Dalhousie Dodgers (3-4) beat the defending champ Tracadie Aigles (3-3) June 17 in Dalhousie, and the Aigles downed the Dodgers 7-6 in the 11th inning June 19 in Tracadie.
The Tigers and Aigles will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Chatham Head and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Tracadie. The Cardinals and Dodgers will play a home-and-home Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Newcastle and Friday at 8 p.m. in Dalhousie.
