The Mets (4-9) dropped a 3-1 decision to the Alpines (6-2) June 26 at Memorial Field before edging the Royals (2-6) by a 3-2 margin June 27 at Royals Field.
Meanwhile, the Chatham Miramichi Honda Ironmen beat the two-time defending champ Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders (8-3) 9-6 June 24 at Victoria Park and defeated the Royals 9-4 June 26 at Ironmen Field.
The game scheduled for Sunday between the Ironmen (7-7) and Alpines in Miramichi was rained out. No makeup date has been announced yet.
This week, the Ironmen will host the Royals Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Fredericton will entertain the Mets Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Alpines and Islanders will play a doubleheader Sunday at 4:30 and 7 p.m. at Memorial Field, and Chatham will be in Moncton for a 7 p.m. showdown.
The Saint John Doiron Sports Alpines (8-3) and Metro Mudcats (5-3) are battling for the top spot in the four-team New Brunswick Junior Baseball League as the 2025 regular season enters its final month.
The Fredericton Simpson Junior Royals (6-6) are comfortably in third place, while the Chatham O’Donaghue’s Junior Ironmen (2-9) are fourth.
Last week, the Ironmen edged the Royals 15-13 June 25 at home. The Mudcats beat the Royals 11-8 June 26 in the province’s capital.
The Mudcats and Alpines will do battle Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field. The Ironmen and Mudcats will hit the field Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. showdown in Moncton, and the Alpines will be in Fredericton for a 7:30 p.m. start.
The Grand Falls McCain Cataractes (9-0) held onto the Capital City Intermediate Baseball League’s top spot after a 13-6 win over the Devon Boys Lawn Care Orioles (5-4) Monday at Royals Field.
The Fredericton Launchpad Sports Expos (3-7) also downed the Oromocto Veteran Farmer Pioneers (0-6) 13-1 Monday at Royals Field.
The Expos thumped the defending champ Woodstock Shiretowners (7-4) by a 14-4 margin June 26 at the Dale Allen Field. The Fredericton Nissan Astros (4-6) blanked the Pioneers 10-0 June 27 at Deer Park.
The game scheduled for June 24 between the Pioneers and Shiretowners in Woodstock was rained out. Oromocto will now visit Woodstock Saturday at 7 p.m.
In the meantime, the Pioneers and Expos will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Orioles will be in Grand Falls Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Dieppe Cardinals (7-1) suffered their first loss of the season in Southern New Brunswick Baseball League play with a 7-3 setback against the KV Red Sox (4-5) June 25 at Memorial Field.
That followed a 6-4 victory for the Cardinals over the Saint John Angels (2-4-1) June 23 at Memorial Field.
Meanwhile, the Lancaster Stingrays (2-5) edged the Saint John Mariners (4-2-1) 8-7 for their second win of the year June 25 at Memorial, and the Mariners blasted the Red Sox 15-5 Monday at Wells Recreational Field.
This week, the Hampton Guardians (3-5-2) and Red Sox will do battle in a home-and-home Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Rothesay and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Hampton. The Angels and Cardinals will meet Thursday at 8 p.m. at Lakeburn Park, and Lancaster and Dieppe will play a doubleheader July 6 at noon and 3 p.m. at Lakeburn.
The Mariners and Angels will face off July 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial.
In the Miramichi Valley Baseball League, the Newcastle A&B Lumber Cardinals (4-5) split a home-and-home series with the Dalhousie Dodgers (4-5), taking the first contest 13-3 June 25 in Newcastle and falling 3-1 in the second game June 27 on the road.
The Chatham Head Tigers (4-3) dropped a 16-6 decision to the defending champ Tracadie Aigles (4-3) June 26 in Tracadie after the first game scheduled for the two teams June 24 at Waldo Henderson Memorial Field was cancelled due to extreme heat. It will now be played July 6 at 7 p.m. in Chatham Head.
The Cardinals and Tigers will renew acquaintances Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Newcastle. The Cardinals will be in Tracadie Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. start, the Tigers and Dodgers will meet Thursday at 8 p.m. in Dalhousie for a makeup game from June 20, and the Dodgers and Aigles will face off Friday at 8 p.m. in Dalhousie.
